Thank You
Huge thanks to everyone who took part in the recent General Election in Rugby, whether you voted by post or in a polling station. I wish John Slinger well in his new job.
Residents in Rugby can rest assured that the local LibDem team, led by Cllr Jerry Roodhouse, will still be working hard to represent residents in Rugby. We'll be working with local people, many of whom might see the world differently to how we do, to help people in Rugby make the area an even better place to live, work and visit. This includes working to improve the town centre in Rugby as a shopping and visitor experience - let's #TryRugby!, to push for more community infrastructure especially in our new housing estates, to get more resources for our local health and care services, especially at St Cross and for our GPs and dentists, and to improve our environment (starting with tackling sewage in our rivers).
As one of the candidates who stood, one regret from the General Election In Rugby is that there were still 1/3rd of registered voters, as well as the eligible but unregistered voters, who none of the candidates inspired enough to vote.
In an era of promised change, three things that should be on the to do list are changing the way we're governed (nationally, locally, in politics and in business), changing our country's policy on Israel & Gaza and having a positive relationship with the EU. Let's hope so.
