Safer streets, better pavements and a Rugby where everyone can walk safely.

Rugby Liberal Democrats are supporting the national Living Streets campaign, calling for safer, more accessible and welcoming streets for everyone.

Walking should be a simple, safe and enjoyable part of everyday life. Yet damaged pavements, obstructed footpaths, inconsiderate parking and unsafe crossings can make getting around difficult, particularly for older residents, wheelchair users, people with disabilities and families with young children.

We believe everyone should be able to walk safely to their local shops, schools, parks, bus stops and community facilities.

Making Rugby a better place to walk

Rugby Liberal Democrats want to see:

• Better maintained pavements, with dangerous surfaces and trip hazards tackled.
• Clear and accessible footpaths, free from unnecessary obstructions and inconsiderate parking.
• Safer crossings and school routes, giving children and families greater confidence.
• Streets that work for everyone, including people using wheelchairs, mobility scooters and pushchairs.
• More attractive neighbourhoods, encouraging walking, supporting local shops and improving health and wellbeing.

These improvements matter across Rugby, from the town centre to residential neighbourhoods and our surrounding villages.

Listening to local residents

Rugby Liberal Democrats believe that residents know their streets best.

We want to hear where pavements need attention, where crossings feel unsafe and where obstacles make walking difficult.

By listening to local people and working with the relevant authorities, we can push for practical improvements that make a real difference.

Our message is simple: pavements are for people, and everyone deserves to feel safe using them.
