Phil Bennion elected as West Midlands MEP
At the 2019 European Elections Phil Bennion was elected for the Liberal Democrats in the West Midlands and secured 6,255 votes in Rugby (24.2% of the vote) beating Labour and the Conservatives.
The West Midlands constituency has seven MEPs representing Herfordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire and the West Midlands metropolitan area.
Across the country the Liberal Democrats secured second place in a national election, our largest ever group of MEPs (16), and our best share of the vote in a decade. We beat both the Conservatives and the Labour Party for the first time since the days of Lloyd George.
This result is a significant platform for us to grow as a party. There is no better moment for them to shape the future of our party and our politics, by joining the Liberal Democrats.
