New Pay and Display Machines
New Pay and Display Machines
New Pay and Display machines are being installed across Rugby town centre over the coming weeks, providing customers with a number of payment facilities. The Authority’s aim is to facilitate an easier parking experience through the provision of easy-to-use machines and multiple options for drivers to pay for their parking session.
Points to note:
- The new machines will be a mix of cash and contactless payment facilities and contactless payment facilities, to reflect the continuing demand for machines accepting cash payments.
- There will be a machine accepting cash payments on every road, these can be identified with sticker.
- All machines will continue to produce a ticket to be displayed on the dashboard.
- The RingGo cashless app will continue to work throughout the town.
- Drivers may recognise the IPS machines from across our Country Parks locations and they will operate in much the same way.
- The majority of new machines will be running off solar power, reducing our carbon footprint in line with the Council’s energy plan and reducing our ongoing utilities costs.
- Some machines situated under trees for example may need to have mains power to maintain high service levels, these will have feeder pillars in close proximity.
- Where there are a mix of solar and mains powered machines on a road, the solar machines will be installed first, and the teams will revisit the road to replace the mains powered machines.
Important Notice: roll out of New Parking Machines
Please be aware that low-level disruption is expected during this period.
Our contractors aim to install up to five machines per day, and the work will be carried out by three dedicated teams:
Team One: Moving at pace through the town to disconnect existing machines from mains power.
Where excavation work is required, the team will make safe the highway with a temporary tarmac surface to maintain the fast paced program. All sites will be revisited within a month to make good the highway, as required using the existing/correct paving.
Team Two: Responsible for removing old machines from their cradles embedded in the highway and installing new machines using the existing infrastructure.
Team Three: Commissioning the new machines, ensuring they are fully operational and ready for customers to purchase parking sessions.
Enforcement support
NSL, our enforcement provider, will also be supporting this project undertaking a number of activities. They will be adapting their enforcement approach to take into account any temporary compromises drivers may face while attempting to pay for a parking session. As we move throughout the town, Civil Enforcement Officers will check that there is a working machine on a street before issuing a Penalty Charge Notice for being parked without obtaining a parking session. If there are no working machines on a street, then the maximum stay on that street will still apply. Please be reassured that RingGo will remain available throughout as an option to obtain a parking session.
Minimising Disruption During Installation
While we have made a concerted effort in planning this roll-out to minimise disruption to businesses and visitors during the installation of the new parking machines, we recognise that unanticipated issues may arise. If you experience any concerns or encounter problems during the rollout, please don’t hesitate to contact us at civilenforcement@warwickshire.gov.uk. We are committed to addressing all queries as swiftly and effectively as possible.
