Major new traffic works on Rugby Gyratory between January and March 2015 (13 December)

13 Dec 2014

Warwickshire County Council has contracted with Geoffrey Osborne Ltd to carry out major new traffic works on the Rugby Gyratory. The work will start around 5 January and is expected to run until the end of March 2015.

After the works have been completed:

- Access onto to the gyratory from Dunchurch Road will be controlled by traffic lights;

- Access onto the gyratory from Bilton Road will be controlled by traffic lights;

- The gyratory will be three lanes all the way around; and

- There will be an additional traffic light controlled pedestrian crossing over Lawrence Sheriff Street by Sheep Street.

With all the extra traffic lights the gyratory will become more of stop-startory than a gyratory.

The county council are hoping that the new system will reduce air pollution by the William Ellis pub which currently has the second highest level of air pollution in Rugby.
