Councillor Tim Douglas has become Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats Group on Rugby Borough Council.

Councillor Douglas represents Paddox Ward and was elected in 2016.

The Liberal Democrat Group now has nine Councillors after successfully holding Paddox and Rokeby & Overslade Wards and gaining a seat off the Conservatives in Eastlands at the local elections on 3 May 2018.

Long serving Councillor Jerry Roodhouse remains Leader of the Liberal Democrats Group.

Commenting, Councillor Tim Douglas, said:

"I am delighted to be Deputy Leader of the Lib Dem Group and will continue to put the needs of residents first. It is important that the Borough has Councillors who will raise issues on behalf of residents and scrutinise the decision-making process to ensure we have a town that works for all. The Lib Dem group have worked hard to campaign for better transport infrastructure, getting empty homes back into use, upgrading changing rooms and reducing plastic waste. I look forward to delivering more initiatives with my fellow Councillors."
