Kenilworth Liberal Democrat local campaigner John Whitehouse has questioned whether or not the idea of a Kenilworth Festival, promoted heavily in the local media by prominent local Tories in recent weeks, was in fact just a promotional "stunt" for the recent Park Hill By-Election.

John Whitehouse said:

"When I raised a question about the Festival idea at the Kenilworth Town Council meeting last week, there was just some embarrassed foot-shuffling from the controlling Tory group, and a desire to move on to other business. An ideal opportunity to give some public backing to the Festival was lost."

For myself, I hope that the idea of a Festival will grow, but building on things already in place, and with a dedicated group to push it forward. Next time the subject is raised with the town council, I hope that it gets a more sympathetic hearing!"
